A warm welcome to our six new trustees
We are delighted to welcome our new chair, SARA ROBERTSON , and six new trustees to the Board of Historic Buildings & Places. All responded to an open recruitment call and were appointed after a rigorous shortlisting and interview process. Alongside their obvious passion for heritage we are confident that the Society will benefit greatly from their diverse backgrounds which span academia, cultural institutions and conservation organisa tions. Our strategic direction will be guided by their thinking, ideas and energy. Together with mem bers of our existing board, they are poised to lead HB&P through the next stage of our development, as we plan for the future together. We will feature Sara in our next edition of Heritage Now but before that we will meet our new trustees. CARA HEPBURN , senior philanthropy manager at King’s College London, leads with her extensive experience in fundraising and strategic planning. With a 12-year career in the heritage sector, Cara’s dedication to historic sites is unwavering. Previ ously working for organisations such as English Heritage, she envisions a sustainable future where historic places flourish as community land marks. Her expertise in engaging donors, mem bers and supporters will bolster HB&P’s outreach efforts, ensuring broader support for its mission. ‘HB&P is about to embark on some exciting transformations and I’m honoured to contrib ute as a trustee’. Cara plans to bring her profes sional knowledge, skills and experience to help the charity plan for the future and thrive in an ever-changing landscape. Her strategic vision and dedication to philanthropy will be crucial in guid ing HB&P’s future growth. MOE HORIKAWA , grant in aid manager at the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), brings expertise in cultural heritage management and a global perspective shaped by research and practi cal experience. Her role at NLHF underscores her strategic insights and commitment to community heritage, enriching HB&P’s approach to sustain ing historic buildings and places. Her background and dedication will help us navigate the complexi ties of maintaining historic urban landscapes while promoting sustainable development. Thrilled about the opportunity to support HB&P during a pivotal period of change, Cara remarked,
Moe’s interest in joining HB&P as a trustee is rooted in her love for historic buildings and her academic background. She noted, ‘I love historic buildings. Also, having written dissertations on the balance of the historic urban landscape and urban development, the work HB&P does reso nates with my interest.’ Moe’s commitment to preserving not only famous historic houses but also the smaller, cohesive elements of the historic urban landscape align perfectly with HB&P’s mission. Her insights will be invaluable in our ef forts to protect and promote all aspects of heritage. CLARE KNOWLES , head of marketing and digital at Durham Cathedral, brings a wealth of experi ence in marketing the heritage sector, comple mented by her deep passion for historic places, making her a valuable addition to our Society. At Durham, Clare leads the marketing and digital strategy, promoting one of the United King dom’s most iconic heritage sites to local and
